Emmanuel Adebayor has commissioned two water projects in two communities in the Upper West Region of Ghana yesterday.
The grand launch which took place in Hamile at a gathering of chiefs and people in and around the Wa metropolis also sees its twin town of Koro as a beneficiary.
Hence, the indigenes of these two communities will no longer have to trek for miles in search of water.
The Man City striker who was accompanied by the President of the Ghana Football Association Kwasi Nyantakyi, ex- Ghana international Mohammed Gargo, some of his personal friends and a large presence of the media were greeted by a large cheerful crowd upon arrival at the Wa airport all the way through to the commissioning sites.
Adebayor, 26, told the massive crowd at Hamile how his humble beginnings motivated him to provide such a basic commodity which has over the years been so scarce for the people of this region.
I just couldn't believe it when I heard that the people here have to travel long distances just to get water, he said. I have been in similar situation and I know how it feels like so it fills me with joy to see that I am able to bring some relief to these people.
In showing appreciation, the Chiefs in the area presented the ex -Arsenal man with a smoke and a white lamb and assured that the new facility will be well maintained.
The gathering burst into excitement as the lanky forward pumped, drunk and splashed water from the newly built borehole to signify that water has come to the vicinity.
