Resource Link Foundation , A non-governmental organisation (NGO), has provided rain water harvesting facilities to four schools in the Wenchi Municipality of the Brong Ahafo Region at the cost of GH¢9,800.00
The schools are Wenchi Model "A", Asampu Methodist Primary, Subinso Islamic and Branam L/A Schools.
Mr Christopher Dapaah, Co-ordinating Director of the NGO, who was addressing a forum with stakeholders at Wenchi, noted that the project aimed at creating opportunities for more efficient water management and improved access to good drinking water in deprived communities.
In addition, the NGO has also embarked on educational programmes in the areas of quiz competitions and sexual reproduction, as well as social support programme for 205 school children and about 295 unskilled youth.
Mr Dapaah expressed optimism that the projects would roll out opportunities to improve the lives of many pupils in deprived schools.
He said the NGO had also committed resources to promote cultural exchange programmes with foreign students and capacity building for schools through the use and development of Information Communication Technology -related programmes.
The Co-ordinating Director said it was the desire of the organisation to partner government effectively to ensure the attainment of the Millennium Development Goal on sanitation.
Mr Baniyeni Cyril, Assistant Director of the Municipal Education Directorate, thanked the NGO for the gesture.
He appealed to donor agencies and corporate bodies to support schools in the municipality to improve infrastructural facilities.
